Day 1 - 5th & 6th Gen
I've been waiting on shooting a sugar cane fire for the last 12 months and it all came together today. After about 3 weeks of delays due to rain, it finally happened.
Big thanks for Ian & Mick Herse for giving me their time to share some family history and allowing me to take this photo.

Great action shot! I love seeing the fire-starter with his lighter and seeing the blurred lines forming the flame and the flaming embers leaving their fiery trails. Nice start to the challenge.
Lovely shot. Great glow and action and excellent composition. What a very snazzy start to your month! Well done.
This is a cool image!!! Great start!!!
Love the flames at the top left. Not sure you should be setting fires just to get your photo though :D
What a hot way to start the month! Well done.
Wow! I love the motion blur and the silhouette of the sugar canes against the light of the flames. I'm glad you finally got the opportunity you're been waiting for. It's a really amazing scene.
Great looking fire with the silhouettes to add some more action. I never heard about sugarcanefires though.
How on earth are you going to match this pic tomorrow!!
Awesome action shot of the flames, and the people look like they are casually strolling through them.
What an great start to your challenge.
This is a really good action shot. It almost looks like it is painted. Great work.

I am glad I read the comments, to know there is a fire starter...could you maybe explain why they set the fields on fire?

Gives a very good sense of the actiont too.
I don't know what a sugar cane burning is, but the picture is really nice.
I can almost feel the heat here.
